Christ the King Child Development Center (CtK CDC) is a faith-based learning center offering programs for members of our community and church with children age 6 weeks to 4 years old. Children participating in our programs experience the warmth of Christ's love on a daily basis as our staff, which has a combined average of 15 years experience, seeks to meet their basic needs and aid them in their spiritual, physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. 

CtK CDC is a religious, nonprofit school that is an integral part of the ministries at Christ the King Lutheran Church. As such, CtK CDC is exempt from licensing and regulation by the Department of Human Resources. In order to maintain our exempt status, we must provide the following information to our families at the time of enrollment.

  • Staff Qualifications

    • Must be at least 19 years old and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent

    • Must successfully pass an extensive Criminal History Background Check, a physical exam and TB test and an extensive Drug Screen Panel

    • A degree in Early Child Development (or comparable degree) is preferred

    • A minimum of three years experience in a child or adult care setting is preferred

    • Maturity, dependability, responsibility, professionalism, and organizational skills

  • Staff to Pupil Ratios

    • Nursery 1:5 or 2:8

    • Crawlers 1:5 or 2:8

    • Toddlers 1:7 or 2:10

    • Twos 1:8

    • Threes 1:11

    • Fours 1:18

  • Discipline Policies

    • Proactive

      • Rules - Kind Hands, Kind Words, Follow Directions

      • Curriculum that engages and keeps bodies busy

    • Redirection, Positive Reinforcement, Behavior Charts, Time-Outs (one minute for every year of age), Director’s Office, Parent Contact, Pick-Up of Child, Suspension

  • Curriculum Used

    • Abeka Curriculum that includes Bible

    • Basic Knoweldge of letters, numbers, colors, shapes, self and environment

    • Skills such as using writing utensils, scissors, puzzles, etc.

    • Centers such as Home Living, Cars and Blocks

    • Worksheets and Creative Art and Writing

  • Religious Teachings

    • Bible based lessons that are not necessarily Lutheran

    • Chapel once a week

  • Type of Lunch Program - None

 

We must also provide the following information to the Department of Human Resources in order to maintain our exempt status.

  • Inspection reports from our local Fire and Health Departments

  • Proof of Property, Casualty, and Liability Insurance

  • Affidavits signed by our Parents and / or Guardians stating knowledge of exemption

  • An Affidavit signed by the Director affirming all information provided

  • Criminal History Background Information Check for each employee and / or volunteer
